Direct download of mp3?

I thought about adding this as a feature request, but I thought, surely this capability already exists...right?

I tried adding the URL of an audiobook file to download and make a virtual feed (like http://XXXXXXX.mp3). For lack of a better option, I tried RSS URL (I know, an mp3 isn't an RSS feed, but I thought I'd try), but this results in a force close.

Is there a way? Surely there should be!

Thanks.

EDIT TO ADD:

I just realized that, even though I downloaded the mp3 to my SD card, there's no way for DoggCatcher to see it. Or at least there doesn't seem to be.

Virtual feed

There isn't a way to point DC directly at an audio file on the web but what you could do is create a virtual feed then download the file manually and put it in the directory for the virtual feed.

From that point on it will look like any other podcast.

My suggestion would be to add

My suggestion would be to add an intent filter to handle urls ending with mp3 or ogg to DoggCatcher. Not sure if that is actually possible.

DoggCatcher would then download the file and add it to a virtual feed.
