Can't Skip Forward
I was listening to a podcast and paused it. When I went back and unpaused it it started at the beginning of the next podcast (showing the one I was listening to as being completed). When I went back to the one I had been in and hit the fast forward button it skipped to another podcast altogether. If I try to drag the position bar the same thing happens. It's a How Stuff Works podcast, which I see in the forums has had problems in the past.

Some of the podcasts from that publisher aren't seekable in the android media player, so pause/ff/rew are all broken. What you are describing is exactly what happens in this case.
If you open that media file up in the android music player and try to seek, most likely the same thing will happen.
Are you describing chapters built into the media file? Or do podcast authors have to ability to dis-allow skipping forward?
This was referring to a problem with the audio encoding that causes seeking either forwards or backwards to fail.
