DoggCatcher deleting podcasts randomly
Hi, I have been using the software for around a month now, and I have been experiencing a recurring problem for which I cannot find a solution for.
DoggCatcher seams to be deleting podcasts for no apparent reason, when it runs a feed update, after a phone reboot, or when switching from widget to application.
I have switched off auto deleting, selected retain expired, and turned on unique file name options, but nothing seems to prevent it from deleting some podcasts.
It is not tied to a specifc feed.
I have tried different memory cards.
I have re-installed the app
I have reset the phone (Nexus One) back to defaults (wipe)
I appologise if I have missed another post about this, or missed a setting, but this is driving me nuts. It has even deleted a podcast whilst I was in the middle of listening to it (after tapping the widget to open the full interface).
Can anyone shed any light on the problem?
Thanks
Thanks for sending the log. I can pretty much assure you that DC is not deleting the files (at least during the period of the log 15:01-15:26). Every file that DC deletes gets a log entry like the following ones. Only the first file below was actually there and got deleted. The other three were attempted probably because they are old items that got removed from your item list and didn't have the media downloaded.
I have heard of something similar that we never figured out what was causing it but it was only for video files. It was what caused me to add this logging that we have below, just to be sure it wasn't DC. It also was triggered by the phone booting and possible mounting the sd card.

The only time DC should delete is during a feed update, and it always logs that a file is being deleted. DC will delete the audio if the item is no longer in the feeds.
Can you please send the log the next time you notice a file gets deleted. The android system logs can sometimes only go back 10 mins so it would need to be very close to when it occurred. I might be able to tell what's happening from that.
Thanks for posting.
Sorry to bump this old thread, but this is happening to me too.
This is the feed:
http://feeds.theonion.com/onionnewsnetwork
This is my only video podcast. The files are being redownloaded every time DC checks for an update, which is every hour in my case. I haven't listened to any of them and none of them are marked Done. They just get downloaded again and again, using a lot of bandwidth to do so. Item identifier was set to Title, and I changed it to GUID to see if it would stop the problem. It didn't. I read another thread from 2009 that said to disable media scanning in the DC settings. I turned off "Share media" in my settings since I couldn't find anything to match the actual language in that 2009 thread. Changing that setting hasn't helped.
My DC logs don't show DC deleting any of the video files. However, there is something DC-specific happening here because I've never had video files go missing from anywhere else on my sdcard.
Was there ever a solution to this problem?
Try running the feed diagnostics by long pressing on the feed and then press feed diagnostics. It will probably tell you to enable 'make filenames unique'. Most of the media filenames are the same.
Thank you! It looks like that fixed it!

Its possible that my issue is related to the following post:

If indeed this is the problem (I too have had this issue with BOL), is it possible to create an option / setting to freeze/reject future updates to the filename in the audio enclosure, once the podcast is downloaded, until the podcast is marked as done/completed.
I will post the log the next time it happens.
Thanks
