A decent hi-res icon and a GUI / UX overhaul
I'm on the N1 and the icon for Dogg looks aweful, due partly to the low resolution of the image but mainly to the low quality of the design.
A new icon design would be very welcome indeed.
I'm a professional designer, and I'd be willing help with this... Gimma a shout if you'd like me to help out. I'm also an front end developer, with particular expertise on UX design etc. Dogg could do with a major interface overhaul! Again, shout if you'd like some help.

It's no mystery that I'm not a UI dude...at least to anyone that has seen the app :-)
That stuff takes me forever and I'm rarely satisfied when I'm done. I just do the minimum in that area and stick with the stuff that I can make progress with.
I would appreciate any help you are willing to offer.
I am aware of the icon fuzziness on the n1 and droid, I was planning on working on that tonight anyways.
related to posts I have put in before - i hope the UX overhaul has a PlayMode/Carmode. A design that makes it easy to see what exactly is playing with large buttons to skip, pause, and jump to top of the playlist.
There shouldn't be any list management features in this view... only stuff needed to play and see what is playing.
That's a pretty common request, it won't be too much longer.

i'm not a photoshop wizard, but i threw a quick ui together (uploaded to http://www.thehorrornews.net/sd/snogg.jpg )
it's for the audio playlist (which i use most often). gives a better overview of what's playing and whats next.
it's pretty much a combination of the 'play mode' and 'playlist' view.
- play/pause by clicking the podcast logo
- the podcast title should scroll in intervals if it is too long
- only the lower part with list is scrolling
- if i pick a podcast out of order, the list automatically re-sorts puts the omitted podcasts to the end
- all navigation (home, add feed ...) and context sensitive stuff (sorting, refresh ...) is hidden in the drawer menu on the upper left. it could slide out 1/3 or half the screen width. this should give enough room for menu icons.
the feed view could be a similar layout with the logo on top and instead of the 'time slider' there could be info on number of podcasts and total time/storage. the lower half would display podcasts/news items from that feed.
just a thought.

I don't really like the two separate screens that I have now for playlist/playmode. I would like to see them merge into one screen and you have some good ideas that could make that work. The sliding drawer could show/hide either the items, the menu buttons, or the big feed icon...not sure which makes more sense yet. I could also get the next/prev buttons overlayed on top of the feed icon.

i liked the little side button there too. I tought that if you put that on either side, it would be a good way to show that if you scrolled left or right you would get another screen. Making it more intuitive. So you could put "Play Mode" on one side and "Manage Mode" on the other side of the Play List mode.
Awful is being too kind. I just fired up DC in a hires emulator and saw that all the icons (especially the app icon) are pretty fuzzy....embarrassing.
I spent last night redoing most of the icons...I'm going to wrap it up tonight. Hopefully this will get into the next market release. If not, the one after.

When listening for long periods in my car or at my desk, I plug in my Droid to a charger to ensure I don't drain the battery. It would be nice to have an option to keep the display alive when charging.

In the mean-time, it might be the case that an existing power manager app would do that. I haven't used any of them, but that seems like an appropriate place to perform this function.

When I get a chance, I'll start to put something together... It'll be an ongoing project, much like the player itself I guess.
