Listen and Doggcatcher... combining podcasts
One of my feed subscriptions via google listen lists quite a bit of podcasts and I am able to download them still. When I go to the feed website, it only lists the last 4 (so does itunes and doggcatcher when I place the url). I'd rather use doggcatcher as my default and only podcast player on my droid phone but I would like to have all the other feeds that is on google listen on doggcatcher. Is there a way I can put those podcasts in a folder on my sd card and let doggcatcher see them and it organize them in the same feed?
Can you get the url from the listen feed? That would let you create a real feed.
If you place the files on the sd card, you could create a virtual feed from them but you're going to be missing all the podcast info, like dates/show notes/etc.
There's no way to merge older podcasts from Listen into a DC feed (AFAIK), but you should be able to download podcasts with Listen, and then put them in a DC Virtual feed (separate from the normal DC feed) by moving or copying audio files from Listen into a DC Virtual feed folder (with a file manager app like ES File Explorer). But frankly it's a lot easier to just use Listen for older podcasts not available in DC.
Google apparently archives older podcasts no longer in the RSS feed for use in Reader and Listen. DC doesn't currently seem to be able to access any such archives, but perhaps eric will be able to figure out a way to do this in the future, possibly as part of integration with Google Reader.
Hope that helps,
John
Yep, the way this will probably work is that you'll create a feed which is pointing to the reader url for the feed. This will have the older episodes, but it should look in DC like any other feed.
Excellent, thanks!
