Feed summary numbers

We've received quite a lot of feedback about the colored numbers that summarize the feeds (new and in progress). A number of people liked the change but there is also a good sized group that finds the numbers harder to see when scrolling through the feeds.

Firstly, I appreciate everyone taking the time to give feedback about the changes. That's how we know what you like and don't like.

DoggCatcher Fundraiser for the Electronic Frontier Foundation raised $2090

I would like to thank all of you that participated in the fundraiser this weekend. Special thanks go out to the users that have purchased DoggCatcher, whether it was during the fund raiser or at any other time. We would like to also thank AndroidGuys.com and other blogs/people that increased awareness of the fundraiser (like lifehacker).

With all of your help, we were able to raise $2090 which we just passed along to the Electronic Frontier Foundation.

A new release has just been published to the market.

  • When adding a feed by rss rul, prepend http:// if the url does not already start with it
  • Currently selected video playlist should be displayed on the video tab
  • Don't show 1x button for devices that do not have the android market installed
  • Getting started screen - auto-downloads should be a dropdown box instead of a text box
  • [Bug fix] Playing tab - episode description should not load embedded audio (html5)
  • [Bug fix] Resuming downloads for some podcasts can result in corrupt media files

  • 0000507: [Video] Ability to sort video list with oldest at the top - closed.
  • 0001253: [Miscellaneous] Widget should update after a phone reboot (and become generally more reliable) - closed.
  • 0001265: [Bug] User playlist is not saved when the order is changed - closed.
  • 0001260: [Bug] Long pressing on episodes does not display correct 'flag as' options if sort order has newer at top (big arrow up) - closed.

  • Add support for ICS lock screen media buttons
  • [Bug] Audio tab's feed thumbs sometimes do not scale to proper size (also on the download queue screen)
  • [Bug] Swiping right from audio to playing tab displays 'feeds' in the header instead of 'playing'
  • [Bug] DoggCatcher can fail to resume playing audio when it was paused temporarily by another app while device is low on memory

Sleep timer

A few users have contacted us about finding the sleep timer. This feature used to be in the application menu but can now be accessed via the button with the clock icon on the 'Playing' tab.

A new release has just been published to the market.

  • Move sleep timer from application menu to an action button on now playing tab
  • Ability to add feeds by category
  • Set the 'Screen on during downloads' preference to be enabled by default
  • Pressing on the download queue notification should take you to the download queue in the app
  • Display different graphics on feed screen depending on whether done episodes are shown/hidden
  • Increase the height of the tabs (they are too easy to miss)
  • Increase the max item limit from 500 to 1000

  • Add an action button on audio/video/news tabs to toggle the display order of episodes (does not change play order)
  • Change terminology around feed sorting - replace 'sort order' with 'play order'
  • Replace some menu actions with action buttons (top right)
  • Show feed configuration in header of feed screen
  • Add a 'hide done' action button to the header on feed screen
  • Audio playlist should update after a feed is updated (or has its feed options changed)
  • Reorganize preferences
  • A few bug fixes

  • Always return to the tab that was most recently active (across exits and restarts)
  • Displays poorly on some medium size tablets
  • Update widget size to match honeycomb/ics
  • Episode text on download queue screen wraps when it should display on one line
  • Add an action button to configure feed options on the feed screen
  • Add a splash screen
  • Update seekbar UI
  • Bug - Crash viewing and addiing some feeds on android 2.2 and earlier
  • Bug - Play audio on bluetooth headset connect does not work on ICS
