Bluetooth Troubleshooting
Prior to troubleshooting any DoggCatcher issues, please ensure that your Android bluetooth settings say your device is "Connected to phone and media audio".
Bluetooth connectivity works well most of the time, but it gets a little flaky at times.
Many users (including myself) have reported that every few minutes there's the bluetooth audio is muted for a second or two while it is playing. Some users have reported that disabling wifi resolve this issue. It didn't work for me, but it might for you.
Bluetooth Phone Specific Issues
- G1 - Bluetooth headset needs to be powered on before bluetooth is enabled on the phone
- Hero - the Hero version of Android includes a music player that intercepts all button presses. At this time I'm not aware of anyone that has been able to get any third party applications to respond to button presses.
Bluetooth Profiles
A2DP - streaming audio (audio playback)
AVRCP - media controls (play/pause/ff/rew)

Comments
Sennheiser MM400
These on ear headphones work nicely.
PHONE:
HTC Droid Incredible. I've been using these headphones with the phone for 3 months. I load CyanogenMod 7 Nightlies and experimental Kernels on a daily basis and the phone, Bluetooth and Doggcatcher always runs without problems.
FIT
The fit is too tight on my jack-in-the-box head, that said, they never slip during walking or working around the house.
SOUND:
Not too bad. I'm not into heart pounding bass, so I can't comment on that. With these headphones, I usually listen to netcasts and pandora, so my source music is already degraded, but when I listen to lossless music on my Droid Inc, it's spectacular.
RANGE:
30-40 feet is about the max. The distance from my workbench to any point in the garage, or from my desk to the restroom and printer is 30 feet and I don't get dropouts.
PAIRING
Takes seconds. The user presses or presses and holds the main button, enter 0000 on the phone and LEDs flash red or blue to indicate success.
MUSIC VOLUME CONTROL
6 buttons:
UP/DN controls volume.
MAIN: Powers on/off and pauses
REV/FWD: Fast forwards/ Rewinds podcasts according to Doggcatcher's preference.
REV/FWD: I believe it forwards/reverses to next song/start of song
6th one I've never used.
COST
$75 refurb from Amazon (no manuals, no Euro power adapters). Manuals are online.
It did include a charger and a 3.5mm adapter and a bag.
ISSUE:
When powering up the headset, the phone plays about 10ms of the beginning of a podcast over the its speaker, then it resumes the podcast on the headset. So, if I'm at 25:00 of a podcast, then power the headset, the podcast plays from 0:00 (for a split second), the resumes the podcast at 25:00.
RECOMMENDATION:
Absolutely. I listen to podcasts 5-7 hours a day with Doggcatcher, mostly with these headphones.
Nokia BH-505 works as well
The only thing I didn't expect is that next/prev skips ahead/back within the current track instead of skipping to the next/previous track. But perhaps this is intentional and/or an option?
It's not a big deal in any case.
Sony MEX-BT3800U
I just wanted to report my Sony MEX-BT3800U car radio works great with Doggcatcher. I've tested pause, skip ahead and behind buttons.
Sony Ericsson Bluetooth HBH-DS980
Just to let you know this seems to work fine as well.
Supports JayBird JB-200 Freedom Stereo Bluetooth Headset
The JayBird JB-200 Freedom Stereo Bluetooth Headset (flexible, over the neck headset) is fully supported by Snoggdoggler and my Samsung Moment on Sprint. Both A2DP and AVRCP supported. Retail $129.99 at jaybirdgear.com. Have used the JayBirds for more than a year while running, cycling, and weightlifting. Snoggdoggler integrates well.
