We'e got that on the todo list but the main reason that it hasn't been add at this point is that the order of the feeds determines the order that episodes are played in the playlist. Most users organize the feeds so that the ones they like to listen to first are at the top, and then the playlists draw from that priority.
Ideally, I would like to see the link between the feed order and the play order removed. To me, they are two separate entities and should be allowed to be sorted and viewed independently.
I would prefer the feeds tab to be sorted by latest episode, so the feed with the latest new episode is listed first (or last) and so on. This would allow you to see at a glance the feeds with new episodes.
Also, there needs to be a setting to make every downloaded episode go into a user generated playlist automatically. This would allow users to arrange the play order as they see fit. This should be a priority as a simple way to manage the play order has been way too long coming.
I think with those two additions, Doggcatcher, which is already fantastic would be so much easier to manage and use.

I agree that the feeds screen would be best viewed with feeds with news episodes at the top, but I'm still faced with the problem of having to let users set the order of the playlist, so we would have to have this someplace. Maybe it just shouldn't be tied to the feeds screen as you suggest.

Yes, I need exactly this also. All of my playlists are also manually generated; I use no automated playlists or automatic downloads. Seeing the icon of the the feed with the freshest episode just feels right to me. In many time sensitive feeds, like news related feeds (someone mentioned Shields and Brooks, which is a good example), I want the most recent episode. If I have been away, and autodownloads are on, I have to first wade in and delete the things I'll never listen to. Much better to see at a glance what is newest, and then manually download as I wish. An alpha list at least lets me know where I need to go, but it becomes cumbersome to scroll around if I have dozens and dozens of feeds.
I realize the code behind DoggCatcher is designed to sort feeds by last update, but this is nearly unworkable for me. It's just not how my brain works. I want to be able to quickly find "Shields and Brooks" in an alphabetized Global Feed List, then choose recent episodes from there. I'm more interesting in the feed itself, not the most recently updated feed.
Please whack me on the nose with a rolled up newspaper if this has already been addressed and I'm just not finding the option to do so.
