Hopefully this makes sense :-) I often listed to podcasts at night, as I am falling asleep. Often, however, I am GONE before the end of the podcast but there are certain podcasts that I would really like to keep trying to listen to the whole thing! Although I can set these to never auto delete (and then only delete them when I am ready) I have doggcatcher set to hide done, I have to unhide to even see that the podcasts are there, and frankly I am too lazy to do this...
A few thoughts on how my dream enhancement could be implemented:
- Provide auto-delete option of "Done, except newest X done" - seems like this might be tough to implement?
- Add option to "protect" or "lock" an item from autodelete while the item is playing.
Thanks!

I'm not sure the second option is possible since once the items hits the end, it becomes done.
The auto-deletes occur when the feeds are updated. You could have feeds configured with an auto-delete policy of done, and configure a feed update time that is after you wake up. That will leave you a window of time to flag the items as new before they get deleted.
Is the idea of a user defined "tags" feature you mention at node 2203 something that could be used for this? Maybe by first tagging the episode as e.g. "sleepytime" and setting all episodes tagged as "sleepytime" to not be deleted?
That's an interesting idea, we could use tags for a variety of different actions or special treatments of episodes.
+1. Of sorts.
How about a long press on an individual episode gives you an option to lock (or otherwise prevent) that episode from automatic deletion ?
I would quite like to see the ability to protect a downloaded episode from automatic deletion as well, in my case it is because I like to hear some of my podcasts again and currently tend to manually copy an episode into my MP3 folder on my SD card so when Dogcatcher deletes the original, I still have a copy. It would be much more elegant from my perspective if a long press on said episode gave this option along with the options to delete, mark as done etc.
Alternatively, how about an option on a long press on an episode to "archive" a download, and have a virtual archive "feed" where I could then find these files and play them back at a later date ? In the event of using this method of a virtual feed, perhaps we could have it work so that we could still set automatic deletion if we wanted to, but have the archive default to no automatic deletion policy.
Thinking about it, I would prefer the Archive - I have kind of talked myself into that idea, having thought about it... (edit - I see a similar request has been made here: http://www.doggcatcher.com/node/2474)
Thank you.
I'll probably end up doing the lock first, given that I have had quite a few more people ask but that but the archive will probably end up happening too.
Thanks for the feedback.
I would love to see an episode lock or protect option. There are times I listen to a podcast and want to listen to it again with my wife later. Would you be able to protect it from deletion as well as from flags (done, in progess, etc)?
Yep, it'll protect the episode from any form of removal.
+++ for an episode lock and/or a virtual "favorite episodes" feature.
Although DC is a paid app, I am sure it's mostly a labor of love. That said, I would love to see a little more responsiveness to feature requests.

Need this. Sometimes a podcast will put out a 2 parter. Only way to listen to the whole thing is to change the setting to allow for 2 episodes to be stored. Then I have to change it back.
