Feeds do not auto update, downloading old podcasts, not updating when the DC is open.

hey all,

I just updated a few days ago to the latest DC market update. Since then I have encountered a few new problems that did not happen before.

1) I have it set to check the feeds and DL new ones every 6 hours. Yet, it never checks (says 8 hours since last) nor DL's the latest episodes until I go in there and manually update it.

2) It continues to DL one feed, Baseball Today, oldest episodes. I flagged all of them as done, yet every time I manually update it starts to DL some of these older episodes unless I catch it and stop it.

3) The box is checked for it to update when I open the program, but this never happens. It just freezes there and does nothing.

Any thoughts? Like I said it was working excellent in the earlier, non-sexy UI, version.

Thanks....
Matt

New version

I didn't change anything in the latest release around the updating, but #1 and #3 sound related. Let see what we can find out.

Can you do two things please.

Step 1 - Start the app, wait about a minute, then send me a log (in the DC menu)

Step 2 - Go into the preferences, then exit the preferences, then send me a log (in the dc menu). I'll be able to see when the next update was scheduled. Then pay attention to when the next update occurs. Once I get the log I'll email you when the update is supposed to occur so you can look out for it.

For issue #2, that sounds a lot like the items are changing, like either the feed title is changing slightly or the filename is changing. DC considers items to be new in these cases (it needs to) and if the items is considered new, it will download again. You can tell this is happening if the items turn 'new' again after the update.

Thanks.

Alright sent you the 2 log

Alright sent you the 2 log files. I am about to update with the beta, which you kindly hooked me up with, unless you don't want me too.

I checked this morning and DC had went about 18 hours without a check. Before it would check and DL most shows overnight while on my charger to save battery.

Thanks
Matt

I found half of what I was looking for

There are two thing that happen here. First, DC sets an alarm that will get fired in the future to update the feeds. The alarm is getting set, here's the log entry. It looks like it was scheduled to go off at 15:51 today.

07-28 09:51:34.116 I/DoggCatcher(28431): AlarmRegisterer::Set alarm at java.util.GregorianCalendar[time=1280350294121,areFieldsSet=true,lenient=true,zone=org.apache.harmony.luni.internal.util.ZoneInfo@20522dd2,firstDayOfWeek=1,minimalDaysInFirstWeek=1,ERA==1,YEAR==2010,MONTH==6,WEEK_OF_YEAR==31,WEEK_OF_MONTH==5,DAY_OF_MONTH==28,DAY_OF_YEAR==209,DAY_OF_WEEK==4,DAY_OF_WEEK_IN_MONTH==4,AM_PM==1,HOUR==3,HOUR_OF_DAY=15,MINUTE==51,SECOND==34,MILLISECOND==121,ZONE_OFFSET==-21600000,DST_OFFSET==3600000]

So that part is working fine.

I wasn't able to get the second half of what I needed because I left out a step in the instructions.

We need to exit the app (in the dc menu), then start the app, wait a minute, then send the log. Hopefully that will catch whatever is happening that is causing the feeds to update upon startup. This is probably also what is causing them to fail to update when the alarm fires.

Thanks for helping me with this.
