Usually I listen podcasts in 1.3x speed, but for foreign language podcasts, it's too fast.
If I could set playback speed per podcast, my podcast life would be much easier.
Podcast Addict has this feature, but DoggCatcher is far better.

We've got that on the todo list:
- 0000831: [Variable Speed] Add a feed option for feed specific variable speed adjustment - new.
Thanks for the feedback.
Is there any update on this request? Lack of feed-specific variable speeds is a daily problem for me on my commute. Changing the speed manually (never while in motion, of course!) is very cumbersome due to how small the speed control is.
This issue is still on Eric's to do list, but not in near plan. It's listed 26th under DoggCatcher - 1.2.four.after.next (Scheduled For Release 2015-10-13) http://mantis.doggcatcher.com/roadmap_page.php - 0000831: Add a feed option for feed specific variable speed adjustment http://mantis.doggcatcher.com/view.php?id=831
I'm sure Eric will get to this as soon as he can, request issues are completed based user demand & work required..in the meantime please try accessing & changing variable speed feature from the car mode screen (press the feed icon left of the media control bar)
Unless I'm missing something, the speed control (or, rather, the text representing the current speed--the pressing of which text cycles through the values) is a very small area on the car mode screen, just as it is on the regular mode screen.
The variable speed icon maybe the same size, but the touch area is a little larger om the playing screen, Eric will respond later about this issue .
95% of the time, I'm in car mode -- yet I still find it difficult to adjust the speed, especially when the text has to be pressed repeatedly to (say) change from 2.0x to 1.5x.
What device are you using?
Sorry, meant to reply not create a new message.
It's a Moto X (2013), still (!) running Android 4.4.4.
I don't have the same device, but I have the same size screen & don't have that much difficulty changing the speeds. I'll see if Eric can move it up in the schedule
I am very much looking forward to this feature as I have several podcasts I'd like sped up and several others I would not. The button is so small it's hard to change, especially one handed in the car.
You can change the playback speed from the "Car Mode" or now playing screen - Press the thumbnail icon (Left on the media control bar) The button is larger on this screen
This is something I've wanted since I paid for the doggcatcher program and variable speed program a few years ago. Additionally, it's been in the bug tracker feature request since 2011. And there's been no update as to the progress of adding this feature in. At this point I'd be willing to through some money towards getting this feature in the program quicker or volunteering my programming experience to add this into the program.
The 0000831: Add a feed option for feed specific variable speed adjustment request issue is now listed under DoggCatcher - 1.2.two.after.next (Scheduled For Release 2016-07-08) http://mantis.doggcatcher.com/roadmap_page.php - and the feature was last updated on 11-19-2015
Eric will respond later if he can move this up on his release schedule.
I'd like to slow some podcasts down as some of the presenters speak so quickly it's stressful LOL! I appreciate the increase speed on some podcasts, but some really need to be slower than 1.0 (-1.0, -2.0 etc.) Thanks for a great app!!!
There's an option for one custom speed (DC Navigation Menu>Settings>Audio Player>Custom variable speed) Press and enter a custom speed value (-1.0 or-2.0) in the field and press OK - Once enabled it'll be included in the speeds to choose from the media control bar or "Car Mode/Now Playing” screen.
Thanks for posting
I'd like to add my support to this request - I'd like to be able to set custom speed per podcast. I have a number I listen to at increased speed (e.g. long, discussion podcasts) and others I really need to listen to at normal speed (particularly comedy ones where timing is everything, or debate ones where speeding up speech can affect the perception of the tone of what someone is saying).
I'd like to request that this be bumped up as well. I've been using DoggCatcher for years, but only in the past few weeks have I started taking advantage of the variable speed playback (why was I not using that before???). I love it, but I am quickly finding that I prefer different playback speeds for different podcasts, so a per-feed playback speed would be wonderful.
I registered an account just to add my support for this. I am excited to see it soon!
It has been a few years and it looks like this one is still "three releases after next" based upon the timeline. Would love to see this moved forward and implemented! Changing playback speeds after every podcast becomes tiresome.
The developer doesn't have any near term plans for an app update.
