Autoplay - on / Autoplay - off

After three years I still sometimes get confused about this ambiguous feature:
Is "Autoplay - on" an available option or the present configuration?
"Autoplay - on" / "Autoplay - off" could be improved to:
"Turn autoplay on" / "Turn autoplay off" to clarify things 100%

Auto-Play

The "Auto-Play" feature is turned on by default when the app is initially installed on your device, this is to enable continuous playback when you're using the default system playlists or user created playlists.

You can disable the feature either from the app's settings (DC Navigation Menu> Settings>Audio Player) uncheck "Auto play"

The media control bar “Media buttons" Press the context menu icon “Hamburger Right of the Buttons” Press "Autoplay" to turn the feature on or off

The “Car Mode or Now Playing” screen (press on the feed/podcast thumbnail icon bottom left of the media control bar) once the "Car Mode" feature is enabled
Press on the A icon to turn on or off "Auto-Play" if it has a line across the icon, then it's off

Verify if the "Pause audio" setting is enabled (DC Navigation Menu>Settings>Headset/Lockscreen) & (Audio Player>Pause audio on power removal)
This will prevent the app from continuously playing media files when the headset or power source is disconnected

"Auto Play On," but it's not working, at all

I've tried ['burger menu]/Settings/Audio Player, and found the box for Auto Play is already checked. I've tried unchecking it and checking it again, but auto play still does not actually work. I've restarted my phone. Android is fully up-to-date. I have a Pixel 3a. Dogg Catcher reliably played one podcast episode after another, reliably, for over 2 years, ever since a friend recommended Dogg Catcher. I paid for it, I'm not just free-loading.
I'd love to keep using Dogg Catcher, but if this doesn't change, I'm going to start researching and trying other podcast apps, because I can't be pulling over to the side of the road on my way to be with family for Christmas.
Please help. Do I have to re-install? If I reinstall, will I lose all record of my subscriptions? They all really matter to me, but I have attention deficit, and can forget even the things most important to me. I've been experiencing podcasts as an auditory flow, and remembering to resubscribe is neither a dally nor weekly routine, which are the only things I can recall, reliably.

Autoplay not working

Go ahead and try other apps. I did since I don't know anyone else who uses Doggcatcher, but I quickly realized they are all garbage. ALL of them. It's either Manual downloads of every subscription has the same settings, no playlist order, etc
Managing my ~100 subscriptions, most free, some paid and private, a couple virtual, can only be done with Doggcatcher. Not sure why there is no competition for this app, and also not sure why most people are using apps that are high maintenance and clunky (Google music podcasts, apple podcasts, and a couple other popular ones that are so simple / basic they frustrate me)

May have found the solution

From the first link you gave, for "Playlist or Auto-Play Issue", I found directions that may have led me to a solution.

I figured out what the Audio tab is, and when I selected it, all I see is a gray on gray message, "There are no audio files in the currently selected playlist.
All I have ever done is subscribed to podcasts, and selected additional, older episodes for download. Until about a month ago, Dogg Catcher did an admirable job of automatically starting another episode from among all my subscriptions.
... Oh, and you anticipated that. I selected "All - Sorted by feed/date," and suddenly it's full. Hopefully that solved my problem.
Thanks. Stay safe.

Your help solved my auto-play problem.

I've enjoyed a whole day of Dogg Catcher serving up one podcast after another, by date, the way it did, before. I guess I accidentally switched audio feed types, and didn't notice. Thanks, everyone, for your help.
