In-progress podcasts deleted

I actually have several issues, but the title is the most annoying/egregious.

Lately, last night in fact, I was listening to an episode and stopped just about halfway. This AM, when I attempted to resume listening, the episode file was gone. The progress bar appeared to be in the same location but the file was gone. I have not noticed this happening to every feed, but it has been happening on the 3 most recently added ones (PodCastle, Escape Pod, Cast of Wonders).

Second - I have also noticed often times no episodes will download automatically despite there being plenty of new episodes. Even if I manually do a feed update on WiFi with new episodes present in the list, nothing is downloaded.

Third - Overnight update does not reliably download updates. I do have the setting checked to start with the phone, every 12 hours, and have the 'screen on while downloading' option set as well.

In an attempt to try to clear up the issue(s), I exported my feed list and then cleared the data and uninstalled the app to install it fresh. Somehow, my feeds were all present upon install (automatic check of certain folders?) and yet, the issues above remained.

In-progress podcasts deleted update

You could be pressing the next button accidently, this flags the episode done and removes it from the current active playlist. (FYI) when an episode is flagged as done and removed from the playlist it is not deleted until the next scheduled feed update. If episodes are being deleted, then the “Update Feeds on Start” feature is enabled, you can disable it from the app's settings (DC Navigation Menu>Settings>Feed Updates>Update Feeds on Start)

Episodes flagged as done and removed from the playlist is located on the "Episode" screen of the particular feed on the "Feeds" tab and can be re-flagged new (Blue) on in-progress (Green) before being auto deleted during scheduled feed updates and re-added to the playlist.

2nd & 3rd - After a scheduled feed update is completed, check the app's event log for any issues that could be the cause of a download or update failure (DC Navigation Menu>More>Event Log) Example the "Auto-Download" setting is set to 5 and there is already 5 (New "Blue" or in-progress "Green") episodes downloaded, you would have to delete/flag as done "Grey" or complete listening/watching the particular episodes so they can be flagged as done by the app and deleted on the next scheduled feed update or increase the "Auto-Download" setting to a higher number (DC Navigation Menu>Settings>Global Feed Options)

Since Android 6.0 (API level 23), Android offers the Auto Backup for Apps feature as a way to backup and restore your data in certain apps. if "Automatic restore" is enabled in the device settings that's why your feeds were all present once you reinstalled.

I still recommend backing up the app on a regular basis (DC Navigation Menu>Settings>Backup/Restore?Export)

Thank you for the reply.

Thank you for the reply.

I can try turning off the feed update on startup, but I don't think it will matter in the long run since updates seem to be marking items done and deleting their audio when I've never played any of them for even a second.

Just now, I manually downloaded an episode flagged as new from a new feed.
Without having listening to it, or two others I flagged new and downloaded this AM, I did a feed update and the app flagged them done, removed the media, and then tried to download what would be the newest episode.
On the other two feeds, despite having new episodes available, it does not attempt to download any.

I'm kind of at a loss. I don't use user playlists, typically. "all feeds, in order" is my only mode.

PodCastle, Escape Pod, Cast of Wonders

I subscribed to the three feeds (PodCastle, Escape Pod, Cast of Wonders) you said you’re experiencing problems with, all three are published weekly...the app automatically downloaded the latest published episode from each feed, I also downloaded the previously published episode from each feed, then played a few minutes of an episode from each feed..I updated each feed without an issue, no episodes were marked done or deleted by the app.

If you’re storing DC media files on a SD card, try a different card…..the current one you're using could be defective & that's what's causing the problem
