Other places the list view would be helpful...

First, I want to thank the developer(s) for being so amazingly quick in making the List View once again available on the home screen - perhaps it was in the works already? Who knows! :-)

In any case, as mentioned in that thread, another WONDERFUL place a list view would be good would be in the feed-search-results view. The tiles in that make it impossible to differentiate between similarly named feeds without navigating and/or adding the feeds, or knowing who is serving the feeds.

Making the feed search results viewable as a list as well would be wonderful (I think) for those of us who prefer list view on the home screen.

Opinions?

Thanks! How about feed URL?

Here's a case for the ability to see feed URL on add screens - I just searched for "This American Life" (the radio program). I get 89 matches, about 9 of which are exact matches, most of which have blank icons and a couple of which have the "This American Life" logo for an icon. I want to know which one is the "official" feed, or at least from a feed provider I have heard of. Looking at the search results screen, I have absolutely no way of knowing.

Now I tap on one of the 9 feeds to see more info about it. I'm looking at it now. It has the title, a description, the name of the latest episode, and no other information. No URL, so I don't know who's providing this feed. Clicking on the "description" menu brings up nothing, clicking on the triangular icon on the left brings up a textual description but no URL. What differentiates THIS "This American Life" feed from all the others? No way to know, I have to actually subscribe to it to find out.

Once I subscribe, I have to go to Feed Options and scroll down to RSS URL.

Why all this, just to find out what the URL of this feed is? Why not provide it in the search results?

Do you now understand why it would be a good thing to have the feed URL displayed on the search results page, one entry per line as it used to be? Even if you added feed URL showing on the feed details panel in search results, I'd still need to click 9 different feed sources to find the one I wanted.

Does this make sense to you?

Please correct me if I've asked for a feature that already exists somewhere.

Yep, I had an issue for this already, but I moved it up in the schedule.

Ah - well, that'll still

Ah - well, that'll still require me (in the case I presented) to scroll through 89 search result icons looking for exact matches, and clicking on every single one of them, just to find the URL I'm looking for (worst case scenario, but often I want to compare all the feed URLs quickly since I don't know which one is the one I'm looking for, and having them all onscreen at the same time makes a quick comparison possible).

So that feature ticket is good, but I still will cry out, lonely voice in the wilderness, for information-rich, one-line-per-search-result, display of feeds.

Eric - is my feeling that the one-line-per-search-result (with more information per line) really not a very popular request, such that you're not considering implementing that? I thought I had seen others feeling similarly.

It seems to me that the only

It seems to me that the only other thing you could get on a list view is the feed description right? You're not expecting to the URL there right?

If the feed results screen

If the feed results screen had a single search result per row per feed found, there would definitely be enough room for the feed icon, feed name, feed description (ticker-scroll) and feed URL (ticker-scroll). I have seen other apps that do that (or at least used to). That would be the kind of search results view I'd be wanting, since it would have all the info I need for finding feeds, quickly and efficiently.
