Often a podcast will have episode titles that are not very descriptive e.g. "Episode 123". So I select "Description" to read about the contents. This also displays up and down arrows to read descriptions for other episodes in the list . If I decide I'd like to play or download a particular episode I need to remember the episode title (which is not very memorable in the first place) and go back to the episode list and download/play it there. It woul d be much easier if the Description display had buttons to either play or download that particular episode.
I've got it on the todo list to add the functions you describe to the description screen. I'm going to be replacing the up/down arrows with swiping left/right and that'll free up two buttons.

Excellent, and much like the episode list page, you could show "Play" if a particular episode is already downloaded and "Download" if not.

Hi there, I think the change to add the download button on the description screen is great. I can see there are other icons to delete, share, go to podcast website etc. An option to actually play the podcast would also be very useful here.
What often happens I'm swiping through podcast descriptions to choose one to listen to: I see one I like, I hit back to go to the episode list, but it doesn't show the same episode as when I tried to view the description, rather the list seems to scroll to a partially listened to episode (which is a little disorienting). This behaviour aside a play button on the description screen would be very useful.
Another minor issue I've noticed on my Galaxy S2 with Android 4.1.2, the left and right arrows on the description screen appear on top of the text (if there's a lot of text), which doesn't look great.

I tried to balance them arrows being visible but not to dominant. We need to show them but I don't want them to completely block out the text either...tough to get it just right.
