Trying to get cloud sync to work and the app says only available if you have the beta key. It would be useful if it then mentioned how you could join the program - the link on here just leads to an "access denied " page
Bit of help please

That feature is currently in beta, see post http://www.doggcatcher.com/node/1540?page=1
Hi would it possible for me to join the cloud sync beta?
I currently use the App on my Nexus 4 but would like to use my old Nexus for listening to podcasts whilst driving.
It's a feature I am looking forward to.
Many thanks
Stuart

Hello, can I have a beta key for cloud sync feature please ?
best regards
Edit - wrong link, see correct link below
I checked this link but it gets me signed up for alpha relating to variable speed playback, not the beta for cloud. Is the cloud beta available or still in never-never land?
PS. Btw, there is wayyyyy too much security on this forum. No need to require such a complex password or to have CAPTCHA for posts when logged in. Makes making recommendations much too burdensome.
PSS. Love the app. Use it everyday!
Sorry about that, here is the correct URL http://www.doggcatcher.com/node/4189

Yeah, sorry about all the barriers to posting, but without it, there'd be so much junk on the site you wouldn't be able to use it. When I turn off captcha for logged in users, we still get bots that have human help to login then post hundreds of spam posts.
can you please add me to cloud key beta, using DoggCatcher on GS4, Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 Thanks in Advance

You're welcome
any suggestions on how I can get in on the beta for cloud syncing?
Keep checking this post http://www.doggcatcher.com/node/1540?page=1 & when it's open again, ask to join.
I just saw the Cloud option on my phone. I would love to be a part of this beta...
Many people here are interested in cloud sync as am I. I'd be interested in a little info on how the beta is progressing once in a while.
It seems to be working ok. I've got a couple of fixes to make before I open the beta up to a larger group.
This is a pretty big change that is going to take some time to work it into general release (assuming we still don't run into any big problems).
Nice to know it is coming along. We have all managed so far without sync so I'm sure we can wait however long you need us too. Either way Doggcatcher is a great app.
When it's ready, I'd love to sync the phone and tablet.
I've been using this app for years, in fact I must use it every day,the syncing option would be the final icing on the cake, being able to sync between my S3 and Nexus 7 perfection.....
I just got my Nexus 7 and I would like to sync my podcasts between my Droid Inc 2 and my Nexus 7. Can you throw me a key please?
Thanks.
It's currently closed but I'll post when I open it up to more people.
Thanks for posting.
Eric, any updates on the beta or when new testors will be accepted?
Yep, there are still a couple issues on this list (http://mantis.snoggdoggler.com/roadmap_page.php?version_id=122) that I need to resolve before opening up to more people.
I've taken a pause on the cloud sync for a bit to address some UI and usability issues, but I'll probably jump back on the cloud stuff in a few weeks.
It would be really nice to at least have a cloud backup of all my feeds - I bought the dogcatcher after google announced they are killing reader, and iv'e been using google listen for years... Since it used to use reader to store all the feeds it saved me a couple of times when I had to change devices...
Eric,
I've been trying to be patient but it's been months and I really do need this feature. Any chance you would take pity and toss me a non-supported, use at your own risk, pre-release key?
Sounds great and I want it as much as everyone else but some of the issues listed on the bug tracker are serious show-stoppers. Has anyone looked at this before begging for an invite?
[Cloud sync] Linking to an existing cloud key should allow keeping extra feeds on linked device rather than replacing - new.
[Cloud sync] Synching up without a network connection causes application to hang - new.
[Cloud sync] Cloud sync: when an episode is listened to on one device, and is then added as new on a second device, then second overwrites - new.
I stopped there but some of the issues that follow are things I would definitely wait for to be hammered out before trying to jump on the feature.
Another caveat but it's a long stretch. What follows is severe speculation...
Considering Tim Cook's recent comments at AllThigsD about porting iOS apps to other platforms, I could see iTunes being ported to Android. It makes sense for Apple. They don't care what device you're using so long as you are somehow hooked into their ecosystem and buying stuff (potentially) through them. iTunes already runs on Windows, why not Android as well? This could mean something (unintentionally) for synchronized podcast support on Android that Google and even 3rd parties like DoggCatcher can't quite do yet. Just some food for thought.
Or how about just integrating the sync through Google? They announced at I/O being able to sync your apps over the cloud. I have both my tablet and my phone that I juggle with throughout the day and it's a huge pain in the assignment not being able to sync this app.
I did look at that and it is only intended for small things, it's limited to 1/2 a megabyte. It's basically just a bucket you can dump bytes to in the cloud.
We've got cloud sync mostly working, just a few more bugs to kill before we expand the beta some more.
That's great, really looking forward to the syncing =)
It's going to be awesome, keep up the good work!
Sign me up when you expand in the cloud sync beta. I'm always jumping back and forth between devices everyday and it's a nuisance! -_-;;

I listen on multiple platforms and would love to be able to sync between them, any chances I can get into this?
See the above post for the FAQ URL on how to join Cloud Sync beta group
Is there any way to recover my cloud sync key. I wiped my phone without a backup, oops?
Unfortunately not, I wish there was. I have it on the todo list to be able to email it to yourself right after you create it but that won't help you now, sorry.
Were you using two device?
I would really like to try this feature out and help you get it prefected.

Thanks for the reply Wayne. I've done all that, and it says I'm a tester. It says I need to download the beta version from the market, which doesn't seem to be there. In the regulsr app, I'm supposed to unlock cloud sync, but I don't have a code to enter, so I'm stuck. Any guidance?
There's a welcome post in the beta forum (should be right at the top) that has the unlock key.
Let us know if you can't find it.
I'm still fighting with this. When I try to go to the beta forum, I get "Access Denied". I'm not sure which login I'm supposed to use, and now even after clearing my browser history, I can't get the login box to appear. It just goes straight to the Access Denied screen. Any help would be appreciated.
Never mind, I found the magic word. Still can't get into the beta forum, but at least I can get cloud sync going.
The DC beta forum page is closed, use DC Google Groups page for all issues regarding DC beta builds
Thanks for the info. Sync is working well so far. Would love to see some more options about when cloud sync occurs, etc, but so far it's been solid.
You're welcome, for more info on options for cloud sync, checkout the DC Google Groups page, click on the Cloud Sync - getting started post and post any questions or problems there or the current version 1.2.5057
I think the beta version must be the one you are redirected to as it updated on my dev ice. I'm at the same point though as have no key to enter. Help>?
After you log in to the DC Google Groups page, click on the Cloud Sync - getting started post and then the first post from Eric for info on how to unlock cloud sync then from DC settings follow the directions.
Okay. I'm sorted now. Thanks.
Is there any way that the podcasts won't download only my 2nd device, rather I can just stream them from where I left off on device 1?
Ta
You're welcome!
Currently there isn't away to that now, DC will sync your feeds database and configuration on both devices
